SPI/FilmBox Enters Strategic Partnership with Bionic Media in the Netherlands

Sales house Bionic Media appointed as exclusive partner of FilmBox in the Netherlands

SPI’s FilmBox has built up a large fan base in the Netherlands since its launch in May this year. This is reflected in the SKO Light reports, which include the channel as of November 14th, 2021. In the first week of the measurement, FilmBox got off to a good start with 210,000 viewers, which grew further in the second week to 263,000 viewers (target group 6+). The channel currently reaches approximately 600,000 households via eight Dutch TV platforms and has enormous potential with an expansion of distribution. SPI International expects to expand FilmBox's market position in the short term. As a result of the growth, SPI is joining forces with sales house Bionic Media, which has been representing FilmBox since mid-November.

“I am proud that FilmBox is taking this important next step based on the enthusiastic reception from Dutch viewers and television platforms and I am very happy with the collaboration with Bionic,” said Jeroen Bergman General Manager Film1 and FilmBox Netherlands.

Bionic Media is a boutique sales house and is the exclusive partner of FilmBox. Bionic takes care of spot sales and content and brand partnerships in the Netherlands.

Jacqueline Heemskerk, Managing Partner Bionic Media says: “We are delighted that FilmBox has joined Bionic Media. It is a nice addition and fits well in our portfolio of high-quality thematic channels with a clear target group.”

FilmBox broadcasts movies as they are intended, with no commercial breaks during the movie. It is one of the few commercial channels in the basic package that meets this added value. FilmBox is committed to providing viewers with a relaxed, stress-free entertainment experience with no movie interruptions and is currently available via Canal Digitaal, DELTA, Caiway, Online.nl, Plinq, Trined, Kabelnoord and SKP.

FilmBox delivers a captivating selection of Hollywood movies, international cinema classics, local productions, and hit series. December highlights include the Oscar-winning psychological thriller The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo from acclaimed director David Fincher. The award-winning and stylish German drama Lara, about a demanding mother who is not welcome at an important piano concert by her son, where she buys up all the remaining tickets, and the erotic thriller En Affaere (An Affair) from Norway in which a forty-two-year-old gym teacher at her new high school starts a stormy affair with a student who is obsessed with her.
